Belo Horizonte, the new "Mercosul capital"

The presence of Argentina, Chile and Uruguay in the next weeks will make Belo Horizonte - capital of Minas Gerais - the capital of Mercosul. In order to tight laces between neighbour countries populations, consulates and communities, a series of cultural activities are being prepared in town and around. At Sete Lagoas, for instance, the administration works on a partnership with the Uruguayan consulate to hold a schedule that may attract tourists from that country and the local citizens in the town chosen by the Uruguayans as their basis during the World Cup.
"We are organizing an Uruguayan film exhibition at Sete Lagoas. There, we are going to broadcast documentaries and other registers that bring both the city and the neighbour country's cultures. We want to immerge in the whole town the World Cup atmosphere and I'm sure everyone will enjoy a lot all the activities that we are going to hold", said sports municipal secretary, César Maciel.
The first training session of the Uruguayan squad in Sete Lagoas, scheduled to the 10th of june, will be open to the public and to the press. City administration is still analyzing alternatives to enable that fans of Cavani, Luis Suárez, Forlán and others may get into Arena do Jacaré stadium, which is hosting the trainings of the two-times world champion.
Following the Uruguayan example, Chileans and Argentinians have also planned their actions to welcome their compatriots during the championship. The idea is to guarantee integration and understanding among those who live in Minas and the ones coming to the State to support the squads. "We are very focused these last days. Besides the cultural approach between the countries, we have been getting many requests from Argentinians looking for more information about Belo Horizonte. We are working together with the police to guarantee tourists safety and also avoid any kind of violence inside the stadiums. We are drawing these supporters', who are staying in Belo Horizonte, profiles", declared the Argentinian diplomat Mariano Guida.
City's culture secretary has also disclosed an extensive cultural agenda for tourists who will arrive at Belo Horizonte. The main points which are going to host expositions are Circuito Cultural Praça da Liberdade and Palácio das Artes, both in very central regions of the city.
